I have been training personally since I began Wrestling in the 3rd grade, but truly fell in love with strength training in the later years of high school and heading into college. After being recruited for Division 1 Wrestling at Brown University, I received my first Summer Strength and Conditioning program from the coach and quickly fell in love with the gym. Following my degree program at Brown, I enlisted in the United States Navy as a P-3C Aircrewman – Flight Engineer. During my time in the Navy is when I found my passion for training others as I found myself constantly bringing my friends to the gym with me, researching and designing workout programs to help us all get stronger and look better. After the Navy, I got out not knowing exactly what I wanted to do but that I wanted to continue to help people, and I knew I loved working out. Little did I know that this decision would shape the foundation for my career and life path. I have been doing personal, small and large group training since 2015, working at small training gyms, Crossfit gyms, and large corporate gyms up until 2019 when I took over sole-ownership of CaliRoots FitFusion.
I’d say my favorite people to train are either the 60+ demographic because they appreciate the help more than others, and those who have limitations, disabilities or major injuries because they offer a new challenge every day, but are the most motivated to work towards a better quality of life. I’m an absolute believer, follower and consumer of Functional training! If it’s not something that’s going to help prevent injury, live a better quality of life, help you live a longer life, or just straight sucks, then why would I do it, and especially, why would I ask my clients to do it?
Within the Functional realm, I really enjoy working on Olympic Weightlifting and Kettlebell work.
Outside of the gym, I’ve found that I really enjoy going on random road trips with friends, exploring new cities and towns, and love attending concerts and reggae festivals.
My personal goal is to continue to grow my business but also to take more trips in and outside of the county, and get out into nature on a regular basis.
I’ve been training personally since the age of 12 when I began playing softball. My dad and coaches made it a priority for me to incorporate strength training into my regime to help me achieve the most success. It was then that I fell in love with training. I began doing fitness training when I was 19 because I saw what fitness had done for me to improve my mindset and lifestyle choices, and of course, I wanted to help people! My first job in the industry was with Orange Theory Fitness but I quickly moved on to an all-women’s gym called Burn Bootcamp, which is where I truly found my passion as a trainer- feeling the energy and communal support from each woman in the room.
I’d have to say that my favorite people to train are ladies who come with the internal motivation to make a change but are willing to accept help from another woman in an effort to change both their body and their mindset.
Personally, I really enjoy working on my weaknesses in the gym, and being challenged in new ways daily; I also never mind “booty day!
Outside the gym, I really enjoy expressing my creative side through hula-hooping and art. I love grounding myself in nature and traveling to new places.
My personal goal would be to help people in my community to live healthier lifestyles through fitness and nutrition; I’m even considering starting a small meal-prep or pre-made post-workout snacks business of my own.
I’m currently attending college, and I’ve been training people for 4 years. I have been active for as long as I can remember, but really fell in love with training in high school, which is when I was first introduced to the weight room. Years later, I stumbled into a goofy-haired trainer’s class at Inshape (Coach Lenny, who somehow turned into my friend that happens to pay me every now and then) where I came to appreciate what a person could do for others who want to better themselves. I got to researching what I needed to do to become a trainer myself, and soon after, I began working with people.
Since I started, I’ve met many people, learned from clients and peers, and I’ve enjoyed every second of my development as a better trainer, individual, and athlete. I enjoy training anyone who comes my way that seeks improvement.
Personally, I enjoy a powerlifting style of training; I currently hold a state squat record, am chasing a few national records.
Aside from fitness, I really enjoy woodworking and building things with my hands.
I have a lifetime goal to compete at a World Powerlifting Championship.
I have worked with Lenny for about four years now, including having him be my personal trainer and have overcome a few different health issues.
I wanted to overcome my health issue after years of suffering uncontrollable erratic heart rate. I knew training would help.
I enjoy barbell training, which include squats and deadlifts.
I received my Associates in Science for Early Childhood Education in 2016 and help children with development. I also enjoy taking trips with family and friends to Disneyland.
I am currently working on becoming a personal trainer to help others that have similar health issues that I do.
